As we all know, the gate at the lake has caused a lot of controversy. While it has provided security and stopped damage from being done to the dam and the open area, it has also restricted access and caused bad feelings within the community. There have been several options explored to remedy this situation. From boulders, to a guard rail, to fencing and other suggestions. The boulders and guard rail options are not logistically feasible or financially within reach. The Board has selected the fence option to solve the problem. There will be a 3' chain link fence installed this month so the gates can remain open. I've attached the diagram for everyone to see the exact placement of the fence. There may be a slight change to the 3' opening at the lake, increasing the size to allow for better handicap access. The fence will make it possible to keep the gates open, provide additional parking during inclimate weather, and protect the dam, dry hydrant, and open area. The cost to the community is $4,200.
In the past, the lake area has been left littered with trash. Please remember to take any trash with you when you leave and help to keep the area clean by reminding your neighbors to do so as well.
